Mental Health Evaluation
Comprehensive Psychological Assessment
If you're seeking to understand your mental health, get an accurate diagnosis, or need professional documentation for clinical or personal reasons, a comprehensive mental health evaluation provides clarity and direction.
At Serenity Space, we offer thorough mental health evaluations that assess your emotional, behavioral, and psychological functioning — helping you understand what's happening and what comes next.
What is a Mental Health Evaluation?
A mental health evaluation is a comprehensive clinical assessment conducted by a licensed professional to evaluate your psychological and emotional functioning. The evaluation includes:
Clinical interview — Your mental health history, current symptoms, and how symptoms affect your daily life
Psychological assessment — Standardized measures to evaluate mood, anxiety, trauma, functioning, and other relevant factors
Diagnostic assessment — Determining if you meet criteria for a diagnosed condition
Functional assessment — How your mental health affects work, relationships, school, and daily living
Written report — Clear findings and recommendations for next steps
Who This Is For
This evaluation is ideal if you:
Are experiencing symptoms (depression, anxiety, emotional dysregulation, etc.) and want to understand what's happening
Have been struggling emotionally but have never been formally assessed
Need documentation of a mental health condition for personal, medical, or legal reasons
Are considering therapy and want to understand your needs first
Have multiple symptoms and want clarity on what's primary vs. secondary
Need a professional second opinion on your mental health

Common Questions
Q: Will I get a diagnosis?
A: Yes. If your symptoms meet criteria for a diagnosis, we'll document that. If not, we'll explain what we do find and what it might mean.
Q: Is this the same as therapy?
A: No. An evaluation is a one-time assessment. Therapy is ongoing treatment. This evaluation helps you understand what you need, then you can decide on treatment.
Q: Will you tell anyone about my results?
A: No. Your evaluation is confidential. We only share information if you sign a release or if there's a safety emergency. Your privacy is protected.
Q: What should I bring?
A: Bring any previous psychological evaluations, medical records, medication list, or other relevant information. This helps us understand your complete picture.
Q: Can my family be involved?
A: Generally, we recommend coming alone so you can speak freely. If you want to include family in treatment planning afterward, that's a separate discussion.
Q: What if I'm nervous about being evaluated?
A: That's completely normal. This isn't a test you can fail — it's a conversation designed to understand you and help you get what you need. We create a safe, non-judgmental space.
Q: I've been diagnosed before. Do I need another evaluation?
A: That depends. If you were diagnosed long ago, an updated evaluation can provide clarity, especially if new symptoms have emerged. We can discuss what would be most helpful.
